More women in European politics: How can we achieve it?

Although women make up more than half of the EU’s population, they are still underrepresented in politics. Today 37% of MEPs in the European Parliament are women but this represents an increase of only 1.25% compared to the previous legislature. In Ireland, the number of women elected in the recent local elections increased by 33%. In the European Parliament, Ireland now ranks 2nd for female representation among its MEPs. Women for Election a non-partisan, not for pro!t organisation to inspire and equip women to succeed in politics played a key role in driving this change. Join us on January 27th at 17.00 to learn about the Irish experience, the lessons learned and challenges remaining; and to explore practical solutions to increase women’s participation at all stages of the political process across EU Member States.
